A Model United Nations (MUN) Conference is a simulation of the United Nations where students, typically representing different countries, take on the roles of diplomats and delegates. During the conference, participants engage in debates, discussions, and negotiations on various global issues, just as real UN representatives do. MUN conferences aim to enhance participants' understanding of international affairs, diplomacy, and problem-solving while fostering skills in public speaking, research, and critical thinking. It provides a platform for students to address pressing global challenges and work collaboratively towards finding solutions, often while adhering to the UN's rules of procedure.
TIMUN, the Tashkent International MUN Conference, is an annual project organized by the TIMUN Society at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT). Its mission is to promote diplomacy, address global issues, and empower young individuals to become global citizens through Model United Nations activities. The concept of TIMUN 2025 is "One UN" under the slogan "Together for the Future,Together with Youth #OurTimeOurFuture", emphasizing collective efforts to achieve SDGs.
TIMUN is the project of Westminster International University in Tashkent and TIMUN 2025 is supported by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Uzbekistan, UNFPA, UN Women and WIUT ”
TIMUN actively engages young people from different regions of Uzbekistan and around the world. It is open to university students from various educational institutions, representing diverse nationalities and backgrounds. Moreover, the in exceptional cases, it is allowed to participate for non-students, professionals or high-school students.
TIMUN is committed to inclusivity and diversity, and while there might not be strict quotas, efforts are made to ensure representation from various regions and institutions to create a diverse and enriching experience.
• Understand the Basics: Familiarize yourself with the United Nations, its structure, and its major functions.
• Research Your Assigned Country: If you're representing a specific country, research its foreign policy, stance on global issues, and historical positions on relevant topics.
• Study Your Committee Topics: Dive deep into the topics your committee will address. Understand the history, current status, and potential solutions.
• Practice Public Speaking: Hone your public speaking skills by practicing speeches, debates, and impromptu speaking.
• Master the Rules of Procedure: Learn the rules and procedures that govern MUN conferences, including how to make motions, draft resolutions, and engage in debate.
• Write a Position Paper: Prepare a position paper outlining your country's stance on the committee topics. Include research, policy recommendations, and potential solutions.
TIMUN 2025 will feature experienced and qualified chairs, including international experts, who have a deep understanding of Model United Nations (MUN) procedures and topics.
TIMUN 2025 will be held from 23-25 May, 2025, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The second day of TIMUN 2025, titled "Delving into Global Issues," will feature engaging breakout sessions at Westminster International University in Tashkent. Participants will immerse themselves in diverse committees tailored to address specific global challenges. These committees cover a wide range of topics, from disarmament and environmental sustainability to human rights and economic development. The sessions will be expertly moderated by international professional specialists, fostering meaningful discussions and encouraging innovative solutions. Partner Agencies will also present special documents and declarations, emphasizing their role in the region.
The final day of TIMUN 2025, titled "Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders," will involve intense negotiations, strategic alliances, and passionate debates among delegates. They will work collaboratively to draft resolutions and propose strategies to tackle the world's most pressing problems. This hands-on experience in diplomacy and negotiation will equip participants with invaluable skills, empowering them to become effective leaders and change-makers in their respective communities. The conference will conclude at the Youth Palace with a summary of the conference results by the Secretariat and international experts, followed by an award ceremony where the best delegates will be recognized by our Partners. The closing ceremony will also feature national performances from participants representing different parts of the world.
Yes, there is indeed a vibrant social and cultural program integrated into TIMUN 2025.
• Opening Ceremony: The conference kicks off with an immersive cultural experience. On the first day, we have a special cultural performance that introduces the rich and diverse culture of Uzbekistan. This is an opportunity for all participants to engage with and appreciate the local traditions, music, dance, and art.
• Closing Ceremony: The final day of the conference is dedicated to international cultural exchange. Delegates from different countries will have the exciting opportunity to showcase their own cultural performances, sharing their traditions and talents with fellow participants. It's a celebration of global diversity and unity. Lastly, the conference concludes with a memorable closing ceremony, featuring a party with one of the best DJs in Uzbekistan. It's a fantastic way to unwind, celebrate your accomplishments, and build lasting memories with fellow delegates from around the world.
TIMUN offers official certification for Chairs, Delegates, and Volunteers who successfully participate in the conference, which can be a valuable addition to their academic and professional profiles.

The results of the application will be communicated to the email address of the candidate in 5 working days after the Application Deadline. Please note the Application Deadline for Chairs is 1 May, 2025, and the Application Deadline for Delegates is 11 May, 2025.
TIMUN selects delegates based on their commitment, passion, and dedication to the conference's objectives. The delegate selection criteria may vary and include the following factors:
- Prior MUN Experience: Experience in Model United Nations (MUN) activities may be considered as an advantage but candidates without prior MUN experience are also welcome to apply.
- Motivation: Delegates should demonstrate a strong motivation to engage in diplomatic discussions and address global issues.
- Backgrounds: Delegates from diverse academic backgrounds and fields of study are encouraged to apply.
- Expertise: Relevant expertise or knowledge in specific committee topics may be taken into account.
TIMUN 2025 will take place at two prominent locations in Tashkent, Uzbekistan:
- • Westminster International University in Tashkent – the first International University in Uzbekistan where the Committee Sessions will take place.
- • Youth Palace – the concert hall for the Opening & Closing Ceremonies.
These venues will provide delegates with a conducive and accessible environment for the conference's activities.
The official and only language of TIMUN 2025 is English.
Business attire, typically business formal or business casual, is a must for TIMUN 2025.
The first day of TIMUN 2025, titled "Setting the Stage for Change," will commence with an opening ceremony at the Youth Palace. Esteemed UN Officials and Government Authorities of Uzbekistan will provide insightful remarks highlighting the crucial role of youth in addressing global challenges and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, special UN documents and declarations will be introduced, and national songs and dances will be performed to introduce the culture of Uzbekistan to the international community.
TIMUN expects delegates to actively participate in the conference. In the event of partial or full absence where a delegate misses more than one day of the conference, they will be deprived of receiving a certificate of participation. Active engagement and attendance are essential for a fulfilling TIMUN experience.
Yes, TIMUN participants will receive a set of basic rules and guidelines prior to the conference. These rules and guidelines cover various aspects of participation, including rules of procedure, respectful conduct, adherence to debate procedures, and cooperation with fellow delegates and organizers. It is essential for all participants to familiarize themselves with these rules and guidelines to ensure a smooth and productive conference experience.
